Writer, editor, and webmaster for nonprofits and small businesses.

Denise Lee, Consultant

I enjoy helping people find effective ways to express their ideas and promote their services. I have been using my creative skills for about twenty years, first as a writer, then as an editor and publication designer, and finally as a webmaster.

I have done freelance work for community groups, nonprofits, schools, universities, researchers, and small businesses.

For thirteen years, I was an editor at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health in Baltimore, MD, in the field of international health. Editing projects included manuscripts, newsletters, conference proceedings, presentations, fact sheets, brochures, and other academic and marketing materials. I was webmaster for three sites, including the Johns Hopkins Center for Human Nutrition. While working fulltime, I earned a Master of Liberal Arts degree from the Johns Hopkins University.

For five years, I was a project coordinator at ETR Associates in Scotts Valley, CA, in the fields of education and community service. Writing projects included progress reports, funding proposals, web content, and electronic newsletters. Both projects that I managed had a strong Web presence.

I have a Master of Library Science degree from the University of Maryland College Park. My undergraduate degree is from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. I grew up near Annapolis, MD, on the Chesapeake Bay.

I live with my husband, Scot Close, a Web site editor and developer, in Santa Cruz, CA. We enjoy hiking, reading on the beach, and cooking together in our spare time.
